The Educational Assessment Research Unit is contracted by the Ministry of Education to run the National Education Monitoring Project and to manage research studies which involve deeper analyses of national research data.

Based in the city of Dunedin, in the lower south island of New Zealand. EARU works with schools and educational institutions dedicated to improving the New Zealand educational curriculum through comprehensive assessment and analysis. Having worked on the National Education Monitoring Project for the last 15 years, EARU has been responsible for providing schools and the educational sector with annual reports on Year 4 and Year 8 students' development in the core curriculum areas of education in New Zealand.

With a core staff of ten dedicated individuals and having approached hundreds of teachers over the years as both advisors and administrators to NEMP, EARU has built a strong connection to both national and international organisations and has gained a highly regarded profile in the educational sector.

The Educational Assessment Research Unit (EARU), University of Otago and NZCER, has been contracted by the Ministry of Education to develop a new national monitoring study to assess and understand student achievement. We need 24 highly effective, committed teacher assessors to work with Y4 and Y8 students for term 3.
